Educational software can be used for different purposes:

  • courseware, available as web pages or downloadable material, are intended as kits for teachers or trainers or as tutorials for students;
  • teaching aids such as learning management systems, lesson plans, calendars or presentation programmes are designed for use in school classrooms, using smart boards or desktop computers;
  • assessment software for the appraisal and testing of learners in a virtual environment;
  • reference software propose online multimedia content (e.g. dictionary, translation tool, encyclopaedia, thesaurus, atlas).
